PALM KERNEL SHELL CHARCOAL

  • Palm Kernel Shell (PKS) Charcoal can be used to replace coke from coal in metallurgy process. Because of the low sulfur and ash content and high calorific value, PKS charcoal can be said better and even cheaper fuel than coke. In addition to that, as CO2 generated from the charcoal is not counted as Green House Gases, use of charcoal has the possibility of CDM project. The test use in Electric Arc Furnaces showed that no bad effect, which was concerned at first from high volatile matter, was observed. On the contrary, electrical energy saving was better than the case of coke from the high volatile content.

Palm Kernel Shells share the same characteristics as its other sibling, coconut shells. They both possess a highly complex pore structure and fiber matrix, making it the raw material of choice for the production of premium activated carbon. No other type of activated carbon comes close in terms of high iodine values and superior hardness.

As a raw material for fuel briquettes, palm shells offer the same calorific characteristics as coconut shells. Palm shell charcoal are characterized with high energy content that is released slowly during combustion owing to its complex fiber matrix structure. Its smaller shell size makes it easier to carbonize for mass production, and its resulting palm shell charcoal can be pressed into a heat efficient bio-fuel briquette.

Our raw material is derived from tens of thousands of hectares of oil palm estate. This ensures a constant stream of palm shells that are of consistent quality, leading to a consistent and growing production of palm charcoal to feed our bio-fuel briquettes and activated carbon needs.

The Palm Kernel Shell Charcoal (PKSC) have export quality standard the produced through carbonisation of palm kernel shell which can be used for steel melting industry, activated carbon, agriculture industry and more. It uses furnace and a horizontal rotary kiln which produces a uniform charcoal quality. Especially with a rotary kiln in the manufacture of charcoal is the first in the world with very good quality with a fixed carbon can reach 80% up. For that we make patenting of machinery we have.

We also have a partnership to build a manufacturing processing of palm shell charcoal in Jambi, Sumatra, with a production capacity reaching 1,000 tons per month in exports to Japan and Taiwan.
